Halloween used to serve the quite useful purpose Awesome Peace Love Eddie Van Halen Shirt of holding back Christmas in the UK. However, in the past few years, Christmas seems to have leapfrogged Halloween – you’ll now find Christmas tat in shops from mid-September onwards, accompanied by Halloween tat during October. It’s madness. I fucking hate that. I almost uninstalled Spotify because it presented me with a banner reading “Christmas music is ready!” on Sep 21. Get that shit outa my face. I’ll celebrate Christmas and listen to Christmas tunes when I am good and ready. I was in a Lowes about a month ago and they already had Christmas trees out next to the early Halloween candy. It was barely even September!

I am really jealous of my kids because we celebrate Halloween every year with pumpkin carving, spooky decorations, movies, and costumes. I am a big horror fan so I naturally like the event. I know it isn’t really traditional, but I fully support it becoming a tradition. Out of all things that came from America, this is really one of the better ones.
