First grade is Official Siren Head Halloween Shirt awesome though and they tend to start getting it. What stinks is when you’ve had a teacher before them who has a completely different mindset about stuff like that and you have to unteach a thing. My mindset basically comes down to “as long as it doesn’t interrupt me”. Some of the older students have got it figured it out to where they can just look at me and I just nod the answer without having to stop but every Kinder & 1st class is like, “If I yell loud enough at Mr. Nix Uotan, maybe he’ll let me go instead of the person next to me.”.

That being said, the Kinder students Official Siren Head Halloween Shirt who actually are wearing masks (because it’s only required for 5th & up at my district) have no problem with it at all. Probably because they have such good models at home. I started a silent bathroom pass and it worked just fine. They can go any time during independent work (once per subject) as long as I’m not seeing it be abused and work is getting done. I only ever did 15 minutes or so of the whole group, so they knew not to interrupt at that time bc they’d miss something. And they loved having the independence of taking the pass without asking.
