My dad had a Top I’m A Baseball Dad Nothing Scares Me Shirt. Ambulance to a local hospital. Aerial ambulance to the major center (1100km) CT’s, MRI’s, two weeks acute care, two months rehab, 50% contribution to the cost of modifying his bathroom so he could come home. Three times a week PT in his home for 6 weeks. Oh and because we were over 150km from home and I was his support network my accommodation got subsidized so I paid $30 a day for my hotel room. I probably paid out less money then I would have if I’d been living my normal life. He’s back home, fully mobile, and independent at 90! He just gets his meals delivered now. We have ZERO debt from the experience, and I have had 2 more years with my Dad (and counting). I thank my lucky stars I’m Australian.

I mean it’s not even because of Top I’m A Baseball Dad Nothing Scares Me Shirt. Labs able to do this are basically needing the money or they could fall apart. I can’t say I’m surprised. I know Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David got a crazy amount of money from Seinfeld. I’ve always heard that Julia Louie Dreyfus was already rich before it started. I think the way around this is to offer grants for all labs working on it and a massive fucking incentive for the first lab that is able to cross the finish line. Like David Schwimmer scale money awarded to the lab and all its workers.
